By Nicki Goodwin, General Manager – Tauranga Community Foodbank
At the Tauranga Community Foodbank, we’re surrounded by generosity every day. But the venison donations from Hunt for Good have brought something truly extraordinary into our kai support – fresh, wild-harvested meat that’s both nourishing and deeply appreciated.
Thanks to Jasper Osborne and his team of volunteer hunters, families in need are receiving venison mince that would normally be out of reach. The reactions from our clients say it all:
“Is it Christmas or something?”
“YUM, I mean yes.”
“Oh my gosh – really? Venison?”
“I can’t remember the last time I got to have some venison, it has been years.”
We see Jasper from time to time, but we don’t often get to meet the many volunteers who head out into the bush with him – those who give their time, energy, and skill to make this possible.
That’s why we’ve created a short video to say thank you. Your contribution is so valued. Truly, thank you.
We always aim to include as much fresh food as possible in our kai support, because we know how important it is for health and wellbeing. But fresh food is also the most expensive to source, which is why donations like this are so vital.
This venison isn’t just meat – it’s a gift of dignity, joy, and nourishment.
We’re in awe of the effort it takes to bring this meat from the wild to our freezers. Thank you Hunt for Good – this is community in action, and we couldn’t be more grateful.
