For over 14 years, the Foodbank Christmas Appeal has been bringing our community together to support those in need.
Driven by the amazing team at the Bay of Plenty Times and The Hits radio, this campaign has raised over $1.3 million in cash and nearly $600,000 in groceries. That’s huge! The donations represent anywhere from 30 – 60% of our annual donations.
But the need is still great, and we’re counting on you to help us make this year’s appeal the best one yet.

The countdown to Christmas is on! But it’s not a time that’s met with joyous anticipation from everyone. Just ask any parent. It’s expensive. There’s more need. There’s more expectation! So this is a pretty tough time when resources are stretched.
Each year, driven by the legends at Bay of Plenty Times, the Christmas Appeal raises vital funds for our community.
Did you know that over the past twelve years, the appeal has raised more than $1 million in cash donations, and nearly $500,000 worth of grocery donations.
Last year, the $170,000 cash donations we received from the appeal represented approximately 60% of our annual donation income.
That allowed us to buy staple food for the first half of next year, which is always a huge relief.
And because it’s Christmas, the team work extra hard to provide extra Christmas goodies for our clients and spread some well needed cheer.
